4. Status Extension and Status Change
A. STATUS EXTENSION
- One-year-regular students and Kenkyusei who wish to extend their status for another year should apply on the prescribed form provided at the Educational Affairs Group for the Dean's approval. Exchange students are required to consult with the IEEG before applying for status extension.
- Students should complete the form and submit it together with a letter of recommendation from their academic advisor to the Educational Affairs Group.
- April students must submit their applications between Registration Day of the Winter term and January 18; September students must submit their applications between Registration Day for the Spring term and May 15.
(Deadline shall be the previous Friday in case the date stipulated above falls on a Saturday or Sunday.) - Students should note that a prerequisite for the granting of a status extension is a grade point average of 2.70 or above, while the student with the college student visa is taking the minimum for 9 units of credit in each of the preceding two terms.
- Students who have had their applications for status extension approved are required to pay an additional Admission Fee. (Refer to PAYMENT OF UNIVERSITY FEES
)
Non-Japanese students whose applications for status change or status extension are approved must complete the procedure for “Extension of Temporary Stay” at the Tokyo Immigration Office.
The staff at the SAG will help you if assistance is required.
B. STATUS CHANGE
- One-year-regular students who wish to change their status to that of a degree-seeking student must apply accordingly, through the documentary screening process for September students, to become a Transfer student.
- Students should consult with the Educational Affairs Group about graduation requirements at the earliest opportunity and then submit application forms to the Admissions Center by March 15. In case of exchange students, consult with the exchange program coordinator at the IEEG first.
(Deadline shall be the previous Friday in case the date stipulated above falls on a Saturday or Sunday.) - Students who have been accepted as Transfer students must pay an additional Matriculation Fee and follow the procedures for matriculation in order to be officially recognized as a degree-seeking student.
- Students who have been accepted as Transfer students must meet ICU's requirements for graduation in order to qualify for the bachelor's degree.
