Advanced Chinese I

Advanced Chinese III

This course is for those who want to level up not only their reading and understanding abilities by reading Chinese documents, but also their speaking ability by discussing about they have read. Prerequisites: Advanced Chinese II or equivalent.
 

French I

This course for beginners has two sections: A French I and B French I, according to the difference of weekly schedule. Not only basic French language skill but also the cultural background will be acquired.
 

French II

This course has two sections, according to the differnce of weekly schedule: A French II and B French II. Not only basic French language skill but also the cultural background will be acquired. Prerequisite: French I or equivalent.
 

French III

This course has two sections: A French III and B French III, according to the difference of weekly schedule. Not only the French language skill but also the cultural background will be acquired. Prerequisite: French II or equivalent.
 

Intensive French I

This course is programmed for beginners who want to reach the most all-round language level as fast as possible, using audio-visual method.
 

Intensive French II

Continued from Intensive French I, this course is for those who want to reach the most all-round language level as fast as possible, using audio-visual method. Prerequisite: Intensive French I or equivalent.
 

Intensive French III

Continued from Intensive French II, this course is for those who want to reach the most all-round language level as fast as possible, using audio-visual method. Prerequisite: Intensive French II or equivalent.
 

French Studies Abroad

Students enrolling in French Studies Abroad (FSA) will participate in 4-week-program of French language study at the University of Toulouse-Le-Mirail. Upon arrival, a placement test will be conducted and at the end of the program, students will take a standardized French language test (TCF) of which result will be transferred to ICU and counted as part of the grade for the course. For students who do not take French II or III at ICU, FSA may be substituted for one of these courses. (Course work in summer vacation: first registration by the instructor in Spring.) Note: Registration Procedure. Students will be required to attend an orientation meeting in the Winter Term. First registration will take place in the Spring Term. Then one or two orientation classes (mandatory) will take place during the Spring Term. Official registration will be done in the Autumn term by staff and grades will be reported on the Autumn Term grade evaluation sheet upon completion of the course.
 

Advanced French B

This advanced level course offers an integration of many aspects related to the study of French language and culture. In particular, Advanced French B focuses on preparation for the DAPF French proficiency test, appreciation of French culture, and language practice (translation of Japanese texts into French and Writing). Prerequisite: French III or equivalent. Note: there is no required order for taking any Advanced French courses.

This advanced level course is an integration of many aspects related to French language and culture. In particular, Advanced French A focuses on preparation for the DELF French proficiency test, appreciation of French society, and language practice (translation of French texts into Japanese). Prerequisite: French III or equivalent. Note: there is no required order for taking any Advanced French courses.
 

Advanced French C

This advanced level course is an integration of many aspects related to French language and culture. In particular, Advanced French C focuses on Business French skills, appreciation of French movies and language practice (Reading). Prerequisite: French III or equivalent. Note: there is no required order for taking any Advanced French courses.
 

German A-I

Beginning course in contemporary standard German. After focusing on pronouciation, study of the basic grammar and vocabulary. Through laboratory drill and watching videos, the class stresses development of listening and speaking, including culture study of Germany.
 

German A-II

Continuing course in GERMAN A I. The class continues to focus on basic grammatical patterns and enhances vocabulary. Through laboratory drill and watching videos, the class aims to develop writing and reading , as well as listening and speaking abilities, including culture study of Germany.
 

German A-III

Continuing course in GERMAN A II. The class continues to focus on basic grammatical patterns and enhances vocabulary. Through laboratory drill and watching videos, the class aims to develop writing and reading , as well as listening and speaking abilities, including culture study of Germany.
 

German B-I

A beginning course in contemporary standard German. Study of the basic grammar and reading of simple texts, including culture study of Germany.
 

German B-II

Continuing course in GERMAN B I. Training in German structure and developing reading abilities of intermideated German texts, including culture study of Germany.
 

Advanced German I

Advanced course in reading selected articles in various desciplines and developing of writing. Prerequisite: GERMAN A-III or GERMAN B-II or equivalent.
 

Advanced German II

This course is designed to develop reading and expressive competence by reading and discussing German texts including newspapers and magazine articles on current topics. Prerequisite: GERMAN A-III or GERMAN B-II or equivalent.
 

Advanced German III

Advanced course in reading mainly literacu and scientific texts in order to develop comprehension, with explanation of German structure and translation from Japanese to German. Prerequisite: GERMAN A-III or GERMAN B-II or equivalent.
